Midnight

I don't have a ukelele (pronounced Ew-koo-lay-lee, and not You-Ka-lay-lay). So I will dedicate to Cocoa.

A sad day

Lost one of my best friends today, Cocoa. Lots of good memories together. Trips to the beach, Yosemite, bonfires, etc. We loved the way she would howl when the answering machine went off or her love howl when a family member stopped by for a visit. She would always walk by our side when all other dogs would wonder off and explore. Like any dog she would drive us nuts but was always there to comfort us. She kept us safe and reminded us of life's responsibilities. She helped us to meet many new friends.

She earned her nickname "Donkey" because of the way she would climb from the back seat the center console of the front seats on the way to Yosemite. This was one of many characteristics that reminded us of Donkey from the movie Shrek, including her stubbornness.

Its only through death that we become grateful for life. The same life that we take for granted everyday. I believe that dogs are man's best friend because of their unconditional love. They also remind us of our impending mortality. Time heals, and I am sure the void in our hearts where the love we had for Cocoa will be replaced over time with something new.

We love you Cocoa. We always have, and always will. You were our big dopey donkey.
