Yay for health care reform

"Under the new law, the penalties will be phased in starting in 2014. By 2016, those who must get insurance but don't will be fined $695 or 2.5 percent of their household income, whichever is greater.

...

After 2016, the penalties will be increased by annual cost-of-living adjustments. People will not be required to get coverage if the cheapest plan available costs more than 8 percent of their income."

- Associated Press, April 22, 2010

So, I can be taxed if I don't pay for healthcare at a rate of 2.5%. So I am forced now to subscribe to a government system. "Yes, please renew my social security membership, and while you are at it, sign me up for the health care membership."

Oh, more details! The health insurance company can charge up to 8% of my income before I have an option to opt out. Why do I envision my health care provider charging 7.5% of my income and forcing me to either get no coverage and pay 2.5%, or pay 7.5% with coverage? Why would an insurance company charge me more? Remember the rates will go up for everyone paying. This is because the insurance companies get taxed more, which results in increasing the fees to employers. The employers raise their rates to the employees. Sounds like a win-win.

I can't believe the sheeple of the United States can't see this as a problem.
